Food Scene

Super casual, eat in or takeaway. The best Syrian food in Iceland and a favourite with locals. Try the hummus and french fries!

Iceland's Starbucks (with better coffee). Found all over Reykjavík. This location is at the top of a book store and is great for people watching/reading books while drinking coffee.

For when you really want to treat yourself. A bit expensive but very well worth it for the quality of the food and ambiance of the place. They specialise in fish, which is Iceland's biggest export and definitely something one should eat a lot of whilst in Iceland.

Drinks & Nightlife

If you want to have a night out during the week (not the weekend); Sæta Svínið is your best bet. They have party-karaoke on Wednesdays and fun bingo nights on Sundays. But Icelanders mainly party during the weekends, during which you'll find plenty of active nightlife venues (beware that Icelanders typically pregame at home and don't show up down town until around 12am).

Iceland's oldest, cafe, restaurant, bar and dance spot. They run on an ancient permit and would probably never be allowed to open if they were to try to open a place like that in a space like that today. Definitely something to check out, their music is mainly hiphop and here's where you'll see a lot of Iceland's hipsters.

The most hard to get into place (after midnight). Typical pop music and really not that special a place but somehow has been the most popular in Iceland for years. You'll find a lot of well-dressed young Icelanders and a couple of football players (or wannabe football players).
