This is the BEST ITALIAN FOOD restaurant in Northern Arizona, if not the world. Get the Route 66 Pizza. Then die and go to heaven! He’s from a baker’s family. I swear, and I’m Italian, BEST CRUST ON THE PLANET. NONE BETTER. If you like pizza and pasta, even if you’re from NYC or Chicago, you have to try this pie. You’ll just die. Ask to meet the owners, Derek and Kendra. Tell ‘em not to overcook the crust as you mention that “Dago Joe” from Parks sent you. Nice, cold pitchers of beer and sports TVs just add to the great food experience. We go there at least once a week... and it’s about 20 miles from here!

I know what you're thinking. But this location has the BEST BURGER AND FRIES in Flagstaff. And it seems the burger, fries and beer deal is a perennial special. Not a big fan of the rest of the menu. But the bartenders are great. If you're looking for an affordable, good burger, this is it.

BEST FINE DINING IN NORTHERN ARIZONA. A bit far from Flagstaff, about 25 miles on I-40 Eastbound toward Albuquerque, this is one of the best restaurant experiences anywhere. If you want ambience and a true fine dining experience, Zenith Steakhouse is the place for premiere quality Prime Rib and steaks, a menu that is comparable to any fine dining restaurant in any major city. Their wine list is INCOMPARABLE. And as of this writing, all wines are 50% Off on Wednesdays! Don't let its unlikely position in the Twin Arrows gambling casino scare you off. This is a remarkable fine dining experience.

Parks & Nature

The cottage itself is located deep into the Kaibab National Forest. 2 ponds on property attract migrating birds, specifically Canadian Geese and Herons. Local birds include Eagles, Red Tail Hawks, Crows and many different types of smaller species. Great bird watching area. Elk, deer and bear are all around including a "resident elk" named, "Big Ben." Antelope are seen more in the prairies, not so much in small meadows or forested areas. Hiking/biking trails and forest roads galore. Where would you go to be around nature? Just step out of the cottage when you stay here!

THE SOUTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON is only about 60 miles N of the cottage most months if you bring a NOT-SO-LOW TO THE GROUND vehicle including many SUVs. Ask us about options for routes to the canyon! Some amazing landscape to see if you take the road less traveled! In winter, you'll need to take the paved roads in any vehicle but please carry chains with 2wd vehicles in winter. 4wd recommended on all roads in winter conditions.

Drive-thru wildlife park that you'll visit first. As you leave the drive-thru portion, you'll come upon the walk-thru park. If you time it right, don't miss the wild bird show... keep your head down! Yes. They fly right over you untethered!!! If newly released baby bear cubs are there, you'll have a hard time walking away. They're a riot. Also, the otters are show-offs! Many other animals that are endemic to the area are also featured. And the new Jaguar enclosure is huge and remarkable.

Nearly all who've been describe this as an amazing experience. The cave goes about a mile in. A relatively easy and fun walk in and out, we hear. But some areas at the outset are apparently cramped and you may be crouching or on your knees. You'll need elbow and knee pads, gloves, flashlights, jeans, at least a lined jacket in the Summer and a parka in Spring and Fall. At the end of the cave, we hear the "ceiling" is 30ft tall! Very popular place. So, you won't be alone in the dark! Probably not accessible in winter conditions... and undesirable!

This tiny but iconic town's main drag, Route 66, was the last piece of asphalt to be replaced by I-40. It's charm and character need to be experienced by visitors. Best Pizza on the Planet is at the Pizza Factory. Iconic dining at Cruisers. Upscale dining at the Red Raven. Shops galore with really great gifts and novelties. And when you turn right onto 89, you'll be simply blown away by the famous red rocks, sheer cliffs, and stunning red rock arrangements that make Sedona so famous worldwide. Stay away from the touristy stuff. It's generally way overpriced gifts and clothing. But there can be a few rare finds that would be worth the expense. Just be careful about prices. DO NOT WALK DOWN UNLESS YOU HAVE A HELICOPTER RIDE OUT, RESERVED. Beautiful, turquiose falls and pools await your arrival. Seriously, only strong and well conditioned hikers should attempt the hike out. I met a young Marine at dinner in Flagstaff one late afternoon who said he would NEVER do it again. He described the walk out as “nearly impossible” and that it took all his mental and physical strength to get out. My advice: reserve the chopper ride out or don’t go.
