The town of Columbia is a living museum. The town itself is a state park. You can try your hand at panning for gold, take the stage coach, shop, or dine in one of several restaurants. The Fallon House has musicals and plays. My favorite place to eat here in Columbia Kate's Tea House up from the blacksmith.

Beautiful lake with hiking trails. There is fishing, boating, kayaking is available. The Pinecrest Theater is located at Pinecrest Lake and plays outdoor movies from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

This is one of my most favorite places. There is hiking, fishing and you can rent horses here. The restaurant is a wonderful place to unwind as is the saloon.

I enjoy the north side of this reservoir. This is a favorite of hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. I like to go up the the inlet of the Stanislaus River into the lake. If you look carefully there is an indian grinding rock out in one of the meadows.

This is a jewel in the National Park system. We are about 2 hours away by car, since there is no direct route through the mountains. I recommend visiting on the way to the cabin or on your way home.

We are a short walk from the Stanislaus River. There are several swimming holes nearby. The water is extremely cold, snow melt from the Sierra.

This little store has just about everything here. If you can't find what you are looking for the staff is very helpful. While it may not be exactly what you want it most likely will be what you need. I have found quality oil paint here along with a lock for my daughter that she needed for gym class.
