This is a restaurant with decent food and good views, but what I like is the old photos of the Stagnaro fishing boats and crew. Also there is a cute little natural history museum in Santa Cruz that is a fun place to take kids.

Mount Hermon itself is in the redwood forest, but there are many huge old-growth redwoods in the park. Also, Natural Bridges is good to visit. There is a nice little aquarium sponsored by UC Santa Cruz.

Interesting Monarch butterfly preserve. They stop there on their migration and often there are huge masses of them in the eucalyptus trees. Also, good tidepools to explore with sea anemones, starfish and other shallow water sea life.

Take a walk through the Mount Hermon complex and down the trail to the creek. There is a little waterfall there and a small, rocky beach where kids can splash in the water. It is 20 degrees cooler on a hot day. See the map of the Mt. Hermon community in the yellow binder.
