Nevertheless far from frivolous and lustful nightlife, Marbella is also a beautiful town that few people get to know. Strolling along the white streets, with their facades covered with flowerpots, and taking a beer in any of its terraces will change completely your previous image of Marbella. We would recommend the ascent by the steep slope of the Castle or a visit to the Encarnación Church. On Saturday mornings, it is very famous the flea market of Puerto Banús in the vicinity of the bullring, where thousands of people haggle by t-shirts, bags, eyewear of mark. Between Marbella and Puerto Banús there is a highly recommended exclusively pedestrian promenade that runs along four kilometres showing villa and luxury hotels (it is called “La Milla de Oro”). For lunch: • ALTAMIRANO in the old city http://baraltamirano.es/ • CALIFORNIA, tel: +34 952 86 67 52 • LA VENENCIA, next to the promenade, near the lighthouse of Marbella http://restaurantelavenencia.es/. For an intimate dinner in Marbella in a very pleasant atmosphere: LA TIRANA, www.restaurantelatirana.com

Información sobre la ciudad

MIJAS – PUERTO MARINA – BENALMADENA – TORREMOLINOS - 25 km. (25 min.) Mijas is a hung over the mountains of the same name and in which everything is focused on tourism. Its pristine streets with white facades covered with flowers, its spectacular views over the coast and cosmopolitan atmosphere made of Mijas an ideal place to live. You should take a ride on BURRO (DONKEY) - TAXI for the village, and it is worth visiting its small but pretty bullring. For lunch, • Next to the A7 highway, El Higuerón is an Asturian restaurant very recommended. http://www.elhigueron.com/ • Casa Juan – Los Mellizos, in La Carihuela Beach (Torremolinos) and its very famous “pescadito frito” http://www.losmellizos.net/index.php?page=home&address=3 • La Reserva de Antonio in La Carihuela Beach – Plaza del Remo. Excellent restaurant http://lareservadeantonio.com • Los Mellizos Puerto Marina El Mero, in Puerto de Benalmadena. Nice restaurant where you eat at the edge of the sea next to the yachts moored to the port. http://www.losmellizos.net/index.php?page=home&address=4 A stroll through the port of Benalmadena, where a wild range of pubs and clubs has crushed the architectural complex designed by Eduardo Oria, can complete the trip.

MALAGA CAPITAL - http://www.malagaturismo.com/es The Capital of the Costa del Sol, has traditionally lived with their backs to the sea and tourism. In recent years, the tradition has changed. The regeneration of beaches, the opening of the port to the city, the increase of tourism cruises, and the opening of several museums, have transformed Malaga into a city that is permanently crowded of tourists and with many opportunities for dining and leisure. A key feature of the city is its historical centre, which is small enough to explore it on foot (It won´t take more than 20 minutes). POINTS OF INTEREST • Cathedral of Malaga: imposing Baroque Cathedral of which one of its towers remains unfinished, hence his nickname, "La Manquita". There is a tourist tour of the roofs with beautiful views of the city. • La Alcazaba: Arab fortress of lower rank, souvenir of the ancient Kingdom of Taifa of Malaga. Their gardens and patios and its privileged location in front of the port, make a memorable visit. • Gibralfaro Castle: nestled on the mountain of the same name whose feet are the Phoenician origins of the city. Although the fortress has no architectural value, the ascent from the “Puerta Oscura Gardens” beside the Town Hall is a beautiful walk with views over the port and the city (a tourist should not miss these views). • Bishop's Palace: headquarters of the bishop, which with the main facade of the Cathedral up the scene that closes the Square. • El Parque: can be classified as a natural monument by the variety of exotic species of flora containing making itself one of the best European examples of tropical flora. It was created at the end of the 19th century by the Prime Minister, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo (born in Malaga), in order to expand the port area and shape the structure modern city so corseted by the sea and the Defense walls of the same. MUSEUMS • Picasso Museum: located in the old Jewish quarter of the city at the Palacio de los Condes de Buenavista. It maintains an interesting permanent collection of works of the famous painter from Malaga, as well as interesting temporary exhibitions. http://www.museopicassomalaga.org/ • Carmen Thyssen Museum: housed in the old Palacio de Villalón exhibits more than 250 works by Spanish painters. Especially interesting is the collection of paintings of the s. XIX. http://www.carmenthyssenmalaga.org/ • Pompidou Museum: located in the one pier of the port of Malaga. Contains a collection of works by the Parisian Museum loaned temporarily to the Malaga. http://www.centrepompidou-malaga.eu/ • Russian Museum of St. Petersburg: is a collection temporarily ceded by the Museum that is renewed regularly with some of the more than 400,000 works that make up the original Museum. http://www.coleccionmuseoruso.es. • Museo de Bellas Artes of Málaga: inaugurated this year by the Kings of Spain is housed in the Palacio de la Aduana. http://www.museosdeandalucia.es/cultura/museos/MMA/ • Other museums: Museo Revello de Toro, dedicated to the great painter from Malaga. The fame of the place has transcended through the verses collected by Federico García Lorca and which can be read on a plate in the place where coffee was located. • Winery Casa El Guardia: is the only Winery that is preserved as such and is located in the main Mall. There you can taste the famous wines of Malaga: Moscatel, Pedro Ximén, Seco Montes, Pajarete, etc. as well as take a serving of mussels or thin shells of the Bay. • Atarazanas market: recently refurbished with its Arab door. The door was by the sea and was the access of the ships to the existing shipyards in the time of the Moors. At the last hour of the morning you can taste local fish or pork • Muelle 1 y 2: The walk along these docks of the port is a very pleasant experience where besides enjoying environment, can eat at any of its countless restaurants, enjoy a drink in the pleasant terraces, or stroll in boat for the Bay. BARS AND RESTAURANTS (CITY CENTER) Eating in the Centre of Málaga can be easy and difficult at the same time, because there are many restaurants but all of them are crowded. I would recommend some of them in case you would like to try Malaga and Andalucian cuisine: • RESERVA 12: Good restaurant to eat fish and some starters. Very good quality at moderate price. Bolsa Street http://lareserva12.com/ Of the same group and identical quality RESERVA DEL PASTOR, RESERVA DEL OLIVO. • LOS MELLIZOS: Bar and restaurant of “pescadito frito”. High quality at very affordable prices. Sancha de Lara Street. http://www.losmellizos.net/ • Meson Mariano: Bar and restaurant where everything is excellent. Bar and restaurant with tapas and delicious dishes. 3th Jose Denis Belgrano Street. After the meal you can enjoy ice cream at Casa Mira, the most famous ice cream parlor located in 5th Marques de Larios Street where traditional flavours are mixed with new trends. If you want a cozy atmosphere where to taste these ice creams, there is another store in 10th Andres Perez Street EATING ON THE BEACH: If you go to the beach one possibility is to eat in the bars that you will find on the beaches of the city (we call these bars “Chiringuitos”). The menu is always the same: salad of Roasted Peppers. Cockles or clams from Malaga. Prawns from Malaga, and pescadito frito; and of course the famous “espetos” (sardine skewers). • Muelle 1: Marisquería Godoy, http://www.marisqueriagodoy.com/, José Carlos García (€€€ - *Michelin Star), http://www.restaurantejcg.com/es/ • Playa de la Malagueta: El Merendero de Antonio Martín, http://www.grupogorki.com/restaurantes-grupo-gorki/el-merendero-de-antonio-martin/ beach-bars Tropicana - Mediterranean - Oasis • Pedregalejo Beach: It’s the most typical area of beach restaurants of Malaga: El Balneario, El Caleño, El Cabra, Andres Maricuchi, La Machina. If you choose this last option you must have a coffee or a drink at El Balneario, located at the beginning of the beach of Pedregalejo is a spectacular terrace from which to view the sunset. • Playa del Palo: with one of the beach bars most popular in Malaga, El Tintero, where waiters pass around dishes with fish and people ask what goes out. City of RONDA: NEW BRIDGE (EL TAJO) - PLAZA DE TOROS - PASEO BLAS INFANTE - 70 km. (1 HR and 10 min.) The most monumental trip is to visit Ronda, which is the birthplace of famous bullfighters and bandits. The city is situated on a rocky promontory that is cut in two parts by the river Guadalevin (the famous Tajo de Ronda). You should visit the new bridge work of engineer Martín de Aldehuela, and lean to the well-known 'Balcon del Coño (fucking hell)', by the expression of anyone who overlooks it. The Plaza de Toros de Ronda is a historic bull ring which has witness the first runs of modern bullfighting in charge of Pedro Romero and later of the dynasty of the Ordóñez, Cayetano and his son Antonio. The visit cannot end without touring the Paseo Blas Infante at the edge of the river, where you will have very beautiful views of the city. Eating in restaurants near Plaza: Pedro Romero - Jerez, etc. are typical restaurants for tourists and do not offer anything worth mentioning. The Tragabuches had a Michelin star, but it is expensive and not really good. Casa María, which is located next to the arch at the entrance of the city is a good option for lunch. Do not miss the “Yemas del Tajo” pastries at the Socorro Square.
