Lostwithiel has a fantastic selection of places to eat from small cafes, pubs, take away fish and chips and Chinese; to wonderful restaurants for those extra special dining experiences.
This is a wonderful 5 star restaurant with a lovely menu variety and outstanding service. The wine selection is spectacular. It has a lovely atmosphere and it comes highly recommended.

Friendly local pub with good food, beer and outdoor area. The restaurant has a separate veggie/vegan menu so there is plenty of choice. In our opinion the best pub in town.

If you like good wholesome food or fancy coffee and homemade cake whilst looking at stunning scenery, this little gem is nestled in our beautiful Lostwithiel valley. It is a predominantly a Garden Nursery with a fantastic cafe/restaurant. It's only a 10 minute drive from the cottage up on the back lanes, but gets busy so you may have to book a table to be safe. Open Daytimes Only! There's a wonderful gift shop too.

Entertainment & Activities
There are so many places to enjoy in Mid Cornwall and staying in Lostwithiel offers many brilliant days out without travelling too far, which will suit all the family. If you are feeling energetic there is kayaking and cycling available, or perhaps a wander around the fabulous Eden Project, (or my personal favourite) Lanhydrock House and Gardens only 3 miles away from the cottage.

The project is located in a reclaimed china clay pit. Great for learning and activities for adults and children. A must visit whilst in Cornwall.

Newquay Cinema is the Biggest Cinema closest to the cottage and is an alternative to the smaller White River Cinema in St. Austell but parking can be difficult especially in the height of season as it is situated in the town center of Newquay and therefore gets busy.

This quaint bowling alley is in St. Austell, perfectly situated by the main Priory Car Park in town. Ideal for entertaining the little ones if the weather isn't being kind.

Cornwall has over 400 beaches and coves so you'll never be too far away from the sea. Staying here in Mid Cornwall means you can travel to the North coast ideal for surf or the South coast to visit scenic fishing villages; with woodlands walks and many attractions in between.

This is a Beautiful Valley with a historic aqueduct and river running through it. It's a lovely place to walk and enjoy valley views and a picnic. There are also ruins from the mining days hidden among the trees. Only 8 miles from the Cottage.

Cardinham Woods has many walking trails that are well kept and there are walks for all abilities. There are also very good bike trails and a super cafe on site which provides really good food.

Shopping
If you are looking for a day out with 'High Street' style shopping you'll need to travel to Truro City for a day. This is where you'll find the nearest M&S, Debenhams, Waitrose, Primark etc. If you are travelling by car I highly recommend using the Park and Ride. It's not only cheaper but so convenient and takes the stress out of finding a car parking space in the city centre. Or you could jump on the train from Lostwithiel Station!
If you fancy a day shopping Truro is our Capital Cornish city. It's clean and cobbled streets boasts lots of little shops, markets and all the regular High Street names. Lots of restaurants and cafes and you could visit the centrally situated beautiful Cathedral t'oo.

Or if you fancy a little walk from the cottage head up the road to Restormel Castle and discover some historical facts about Lostwithiel.
Charlestown is a quaint walled harbour village which is home to old tall ships moored up, not an every day sight. If the tide is in you can go crabbing from the old harbour wall and there is a small beach with rock pools too. Although its only a small village it has lots of cafes, restaurants, galleries and gift shops.

A tiny village set on the river bank. Only 3 miles from Lostwithiel enjoy a riverside walk along the river Fowey winding through woodland. Hop over the stepping stones to cross the river at high tide and enjoy a pint at the Ship Inn. Lovely food!

Essentials
Local shops are a plenty here in Lostwithiel and can be found right on your doorstep. From picking up your morning paper from Penhaligon's Newsagents, grabbing a pasty or pie from Nelly's Bakery (previously Fran's Pantry) and popping into the co-op supermarket for those essential items.
Great little family run newsagents 2 minute walk from the cottage. So collect your morning paper and essentials for breakfast.
