20 minutes past Pinecrest, you can horseback ride or hike into the Emigrant Wilderness. There's also spots you can pull off the road to access the river that runs along it.

Breathtaking views of the Sierras and the Stanislaus River. Numerous spots to stop and take photos of the mountains and valleys. Even though the fires of 2 years ago are still apparent the recovery of the trees and surrounding areas are always beautiful and worth the drive.
