Drive all the way up to the top. Looks like you might have to park and walk, but you can take the trail all the way up in your car. The views from and of the cliffs are stunning. It's a must see.
You can drive up the narrow path & park at the top! Best view on the North Shore!
Palisade Head is just north a short drive out of Beaver Bay, straight north on Hwy 61. It is a steep drive up to the top of the park where there is a good parking lot. This is easy hiking around the top of Palisade Head with fantastic views, but be very cautious as there are very steep cliffs.
Palisade Head is a massive rhyolite lava flow within ancient lava flows that occur along the shore from Duluth to Canada. It's a sheer 300 ft drop to the lake with an amazing view of Shovel Point.
