The Kal-Haven trail is a former railroad turned trail that spans 33 miles connecting the towns of South Haven and Kalamazoo. It is a beautiful spot to run, bike or hike and enjoy the natural beauty of Southwest Michigan.
Just a short distance from the cottage the Kal-Haven Trailhead is a great way to spend a day on your bikes. Ride through enchanting scenes of tree canopies and fields, covered bridges and towns. Water spouts along the way to refill your water bottle.
The Kal-Haven Trail is a 33.5 mile linear multiple-use trail that links South Haven to Kalamazoo. The Kal-Haven Trail is built on the abandoned Kalamazoo & South Haven Railroad route that existed from 1870 to 1970. The railroad bed has been converted to a trail with a limestone/slag surface and is suitable for non-motorized bicycles, hiking, and snowmobiling. Geocaching is permitted along the trail.
