“Farmers' Market open daily (closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday all day). Great place to buy fresh fruit (including tropical local fruits like papaya or anona), vegetables and fish. If you decide to buy something, always ask for the price in advance.”

“Also known as Dona Amélia Garden in honour of the former queen of Portugal, the Funchal Municipal Garden is conveniently located in the city centre, north of Avenida Arriaga, on the site where the São Francisco Convent once existed. The convent’s coat of arms has survived until today and is displayed on one of the lawns. The garden overflows with flora from Madeira and many other parts of the world. It covers an area of 8,300 m² and has a lake and stream populated with fish and birds. There are also some works of art and an auditorium that serves as a venue for cultural activities. “The Madeira Wine Company was founded in 1913, incorporating several companies or independent producers who joined forces. The cellars are open to the public and in addition to the architectural curiosity there are tasting rooms, warehouses a shop and an exhibition area. All together, the history of Madeira wine is told, from the production process in the vineyard until its transformation into Madeira wine in its many varieties, Sercial, Malvasia, Verdelho and Boal. ”

“ "The place where everything happens", that is their slogan. And it's pretty much true. You can have a drink, dance, eat or play on the slot machines. Whatever is your taste, you can have a fun night out at this place.”
