My all-time favorite Bay Area hike is to Alamere Falls. You can take the Palomarin Trail in Point Reyes to the falls, which dump into the ocean. The hike includes a little bit of everything: coastal walk, glens, forest, swimmable lake, etc. It's around 4 hours in and out. Point Reyes Station, Cowgirl Cremery and the farmhouse restaurant in Olema are definitely worth a post or pre-hike stop.

About an 6-8 mile out and back trail. One of my favorite trails because it has a combination of hills, shoreline, and beach. The end of the trail ends at Alamere Falls, which is a large waterfall that cascades from the cliff into the ocean. You are able to scramble down the embankment, or just enjoy from above. Can be a busy trail, as the secret of this trail is now out.

A large waterfall, falling right onto the beach. This is a very beautiful place. A really nice 4 mile hike to get there too. Eight miles round trip. One of the best hikes around, if you can find it. I once met a group there that drove for 10 hours each way JUST to go on this hike. !!!! Stop in Bolinas to eat on your way out....if you can find it. Make sure to stop by the 24 hour honor system roadside farm market too. It's the only thing on this trip that is easy to find.

Alamere Falls is a waterfall in Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, California. Alamere Falls is a rare "tidefall", a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It is one of only two in the area, the other being McWay Falls.
