Calaveras Big Trees State Park

1-2 hour drive, but a must see if you've got the time. A large sequoia grove in the Sierras. A scenic drive through many small towns, and fantastic trees to see.
Stately "Big Trees" --short or long walks among the giants. Park provides snowshoes on Saturdays for winter walks through the trees. Check their website.

Big Trees State Park is a must-see when visiting the area! Our favorite trail to do with the kids is the North Loop Trail, this easy, flat hike is about 2 miles long. Along the path are 26 different markers with facts and fun things to discover. Such a magical place!
