Pigeon Island is one of the two marine national parks of Sri Lanka. It contains some of the best remaining coral reefs of the island. It was claimed as a protected area hugely affected by the tsunami in 2004.

Hindu Temple
“A 17th century stone inscription in the temple states that the temple began its history in 1580 BC. Though this is unconfirmed, the truth remains that the ancient cave shrine that lies beneath the pinnacle of the mountain points towards a history well predating the Sangam Period. It is also a confirmed fact that Koneswaram was a well established and popular temple during the arrival of the exiled Indian prince Vijayan during the 6th century BC.”

“You can find this attractive place right in the centre of Trincomalee. Dutch Bay is great for long walks rather than swimming (which can be dangerous in this area).”

Spa
“The seven geothermal wells at Kanniya are a popular destination for holidaying Sri Lankans, locals and international tourists alike. You’ll also likely see Sri Lankan school parties visiting and playing in the wells. If you want to bathe, there are separate changing rooms provided for ladies and gentlemen. However, if you do bathe, be warned: you will attract plenty of attention! Note that the use of soap is prohibited.”
