Throughout my creative life, I continue to return to the subject of water. I'm very much drawn to its mesmerizing movement — the ripples that never exactly repeat themselves. Lincoln Run, The intimate creek depicted here, runs next to the home that Abraham Lincoln's mother Nancy Hanks, lived at while being courted by Thomas Lincoln. When Carol Henry and I moved to Kentucky in 2019, this was one of the first historic sites we visited to get to know the Springfield that Lincoln came from. It was from here that the trickles of spring branch-water began. It runs northwest into the Ohio River before merging into the great Mississippi, seperating the East from the West. From these waters, little Abe Lincoln ran amok, barefoot after frogs. He later danced his way to the presidency and became the powerful force that brought all the streams, from the North and the South, into one nation again. –Rich
