The royal palace of Yogyakarta. Yes, we still have a Sultan sitting on the throne. You may not be able to see His Majesty Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, but you can see parts of the royal palace, its history, and its role in modern days.
This is the historical highlight in Yogyakarta and the good thing is that you can easily walk here (or take a becak (cycle car)) from your villa.
