Ireland's Holy Mountain is climbed by enthusiasts every day of the year. We recommend making the ascent on a clear day to be rewarded with panoramic views of Clew Bay.

Beach
“Old Head Drive: 25-30 minutes Pros: more protected from storms, so you get a reliably beautiful sand strand, rock pools and swimming spots ideal for kids – though water tends to be colder than at Bertra. Again, stunning scenery, plus there is an oak forest to explore (supposedly the most westerly native oak forest in Europe). In the summer Westport’s youth loves jumping off the pier in droves :D Cons: Favourite family beach for many locals and tourists alike, it can be busy enough on warm days to make parking difficult ”

Place of Worship
“A visit to Knock Shrine, for Holy Water, a pilgrimage or just to pray or maybe visit for Mass. The pope will be visiting this Marian Shrine 26th of August. Knock Museum is also on the grounds, well worth a visit, also a restaurant on site. Reasonably priced, nice food. ”
