One of our favourite things to do in Newcastle. A great daytime & evening venue. Made from shipping containers, they host a micro brewery, an array of independent food outlets and a DJ playing live music on the evening. This place is child friendly during the day

Quayside (Gateshead side). A fantastic place on the river in a set of old shipping containers (beautifully done). Home to a great food market on a weekend with a load of interesting traders. Also home to the much-lauded (and Jay Raynor favourite) Trakol.

A perfect location with view out over the Tyne Bridge and Newcastle quayside. Trakol, the main restaurant closest to the entrance of the site, serves quirky but high quality fare - think pigs' trotters and marrow bone fries! We prefer the more casual coffee shop attached to the Backyard Bike Shop, and the varied offerings from theStreet Food Market. Continue past Trakol to reach either of these.

Right on the Gateshead quayside with amazing views of all the bridges. This is a great place to go for a drink, some street food or a Sunday lunch. www.bytheriverbrew.co
