With the cathedral as the stunning backdrop, the fine Bishops Palace Gardens in Wells are not to be missed. Wander around the many herbaceous borders, admire the beautiful views of the gardens, and moat, and further afield from the top of the ramparts, meander through the Arboretum. Beautiful setting for a brunch, lunch or coffee ,tea and cake after a stroll through the gardens of the bishops palace.

A historic palace, still inhabited by the (baby-eating!) Bishop of Bath & Wells, surrounded by award-winning gardens, Gothic ruins, and a moat complete with resident swans. There is a cafe in the grounds from which to admire the architecture and, on occasion, the local croquet club battling it out on the Palace lawn

Visit mainly for the Wells of Wells the extensive gardens, although there is a beautiful chapel with amazing stained glass windows too.
