The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center exhibits over 200 animals, representing over 45 native species. The Zoo keeps animals that were orphaned, rescued, born at the zoo, rehabilitated animals, or sent to The Belize Zoo as donations from other zoological institutions.

Here you can interact with some amazing native animals of Belize including Jaguars (ask at reception about this experience, approximately $50) They are truly amazing to see in their natural habitat.

Cut your driving half way coming in or driving back to the airport: stop at the zoo for a nice introduction to the fauna and flora of Belize. Eat lunch at two restaurants nearby on the highway, Los Amigos or Cheers.
