You can reach the bridge easily from the visitors parking lot, but if you like running hills or longer distances, start at the Marina Green or Crissy Field and take Long Avenue up to the pedestrian path. On a clear day, which is not as rare as you might think, you’ll see Alcatraz, Angel Island, the Bay Bridge, and Oakland. Golden Gate Bridge is an absolutely stunning place to be at sunrise. You’ll have to head out in the dark, but you’ll be rewarded.

The world-famous bridge that highlights California history. It is well-maintained & is a sight to behold. It's about 1hr away in a day trip from Santa Clara.

San Francisco's famed bridge spans between the city and the hills of the Marin Headlands, offering picturesque views of the bay and the ocean. It's open to foot, bike, and car traffic.

“What to say? One of the great parks of the United States. Just head down the hill to Kezar Stadium (at the very bottom of Willard Street) and you'll see the GGP right beyond it (walk around Kezar to the west to enter the park). You can also enter on Stanyan and Haight (and at many other points). Enjoy the Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers (great night time light shows in the summer and winter) and many, many other features of the park.”

“The 'windiest street in the world". It really is probably not the wildest tree though are great views and I would go before the close it to the public. Ad if you personally drive down it, then take a left at the bottom and drive straight forward to experience a San Francisco step street ride :-)”

“More than 75 percent of San Francisco's visitors include Fisherman's Wharf on their itinerary. Waterfront marketplaces and the Wharf's famous fishing fleet make for a terrific fish story. Fishing boats, sea lions basking in the sun, seafood stalls, steaming crab cauldrons, seafood restaurants and sourdough French bread bakeries … you know you’re in world-famous Fisherman’s Wharf. Souvenir shops and historic ships add to the atmosphere. The historic F-Line streetcar and two cable car lines terminate in the area and sightseeing boats and boat charters link to Alcatraz ("The Rock") , Angel Island and other points around San Francisco Bay.”

“Constantly bustling -- people use the square mostly as a space to relax and soak up a bit of sun, and to wallow in the atmosphere created by the surrounding cable cars, hotels and shoppers. Great for people watching! There is free wi-fi provided by the city. Look under the leaves of the greenery in the planters, and you'll find a few power outlets for your laptop.”
