Located near Buckeye Lake is the town's recreation center which is opened year-round and offers indoor and outdoor facilities. Guests may enjoy many of the amenities for free or for a nominal daily fee. The indoor center offers a full size gymnasium with basketball and volleyball, tennis, walking track, kids playroom, computer lobby with free WiFi, fitness classes and personal training sessions. Outdoor activities include walking track, children's rope and log playground, ball field and fishing on Buckeye Lake (with a NC fishing license). Canoes are available for rent as well. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing can be done on several of the trails on Beech. Snowshoes are available for rent at Buckeye Rec Center. Exercise caution as weather conditions can change rapidly.

Rent kayaks, hike or fish, it's a beautiful drive to the back side of Beech Mountain overlooking the Tennessee border. Stop in the Beech Mountain Visitors Center to get trail maps or just speak with an expert on all things Beech!
