An other local Mt Biking trail system, shared with Hikers. Very popular. Stunning views over the Columbia River to the East and West. Watch for ticks, all seasons except winter. Don't sit down in the grass, stay on the trail. We do have Lyme Disease in the Gorge. If you get a tick, pull it out straight, save the tick in a zip lock bag, with a moist cotton ball. It is much more accurate to test the tick than the person. See a doctor if you have a tick bite so you can get prophylactic antibiotics. Located off Hwy 14 on the WA side, across the Hood River toll bridge ($2). You need to drive, you cannot cross this bridge with a bike or by foot. 19 min drive. Cross the Hood River bridge, turn L/East onto Hwy 14, drive through the town of Bingen (slowly!), after that it is after a few miles on your left, Courtney Road is the West trailhead (to start Mt Biking), Old Hwy 8 is the East trailhead.
