I love Deep Ellum! It’s an alternative scene of people, tons of street art and always something new. Wear black and take an Uber- it’s 5 minutes away and parking in Deep Ellum can be difficult. In Deep Ellum, go check out the rooftop at The Green Room, share a round of drinks while you admire the Dallas skyline & maybe play a game of giant Jenga. After that, wander down the street to The Pharmacy and you can play arcade games and grab an adult milkshake. If you like live music, there’s this speak easy, a barbershop/bar/live music venue called High & Tight. In a corner at High &Tight you’ll find a cute little photo booth ($3 I think) it’s fun, & a souvenir! Explore, people watch & eat here!

Kids park in the corner with drinking fountains, bathroom and changing table. Food trucks of every type, they accept cash or card & are usually fast in service. DMA across the street, a FREE museum in case it’s hot out and you need a break or want to see some art. Also at DMA is a really cool kids area, with separate rooms for different ages & activities. Dog park across the street from Klyde Warren Park. There’s always something happening at Klyde Warren on the weekend, with yoga every Saturday morning, & usually a concert in the evening.

Dallas Zoo is a 106-acre zoo located 3 miles south of downtown Dallas, Texas, in Marsalis Park. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas and is managed by the non-profit Dallas Zoological Society.
My favorite thing about this zoo, is how interactive it is. You can feed the birds in a giant outdoor room where the birds fly up, land on your shoulder and walk down your arm to eat from your hand. You can feed and pet giraffes, farm animals, reptiles, oh and be sure to take your own water bottle, its $2 per bottle at the zoo.

Drive around, speed limit 5mph, the lake and absorb the beautiful scenic piece of nature in the busy city of Dallas. Ride a rental bike for $1/hr around White Rock Lake. Pack a picnic and spread out under a shady tree or find a lunch table at the kids playground. There’s Dog park at White Rock Lake. You’ll spot ducks and geese in the lake, locals fishing and people exploring the trails. There’s parking available around the lake, but because the parking spots are free they fill up quick.

Make sure you wander to the back of the store- they always have samples of food and coffee!

I love free attractions! The DMA is free of cost. The only tricky part of this attraction is the parking, so if I'm available I'm happy to give you a ride, or a $5 Uber will take you.
The DMA is across the street from Klyde Warren Park, you can spend the cool morning at the park, enjoy some free yoga, walk around, grab some lunch or drinks. Then when the sun comes out, stay cool walking around the DMA. After learning about the arts and culture, grab a free ride from the trolley and see more of downtown and uptown Dallas. Also the trolley is dog and drinks friendly.

There is also a cafe, with yummy drinks and food. I've had a salad, burger, even chicken tikka masala there, and each have been great.
