Outdoor Recreation
Itasca State Park is a well maintained Park, with miles of paved biking or hiking trails. A short hike from the visitor center leads to the source of the Mississippi River, where our kids love to wade in the Mississippi. The picnic areas are an awesome place for picnics. There is loop Road around a large portion of the park that is a very scenic drive. Near the end of the one-way loop, there is a parking area and a trail that leads to a fire tower. While the climb to the top can leave you feeling a bit queasy, the view is worth it! Our kids love it!

I only recently visited the Movil Maze Recreation area, so I'm not real familiar with it yet. Our family went sledding there this winter with a couple other families and had a great afternoon. There were numerous other folks with snowmobiles, and from what I understand there are a lot of walking and biking trails available during the summer. There is a very nice warming house with picnic tables and a wood stove in it for winter use.
Movil Maze Recreation Area
12285 Wildwood Rd NEI only recently visited the Movil Maze Recreation area, so I'm not real familiar with it yet. Our family went sledding there this winter with a couple other families and had a great afternoon. Lake Bemidji is a beautiful lake. There is a paved trail all the way around the lake that is great for walking, biking or rollerblading. You can park at the Paul and Babe visitor center, or several other places around the lake, and follow the trail as long as you would like!
The lake itself is it popular destination for boating and fishing during the summer as well as ice fishing in the winter!

Neat little Asian market! Minom sells the best homemade egg rolls, as well as a good variety of Asian supplies. There is also a section of flea market type items for sale. You never know what you'll find there!
