This trail is open year-round and does allow motorized vehicles such as ATVs, UTVs and snowmobiles. It can also be used for activities such as biking, walking, running, cross country skiing, and horseback riding; however, please note that some have noted the trail may be too rough and soft in certain places for horseback riding and biking. Developed on a former railroad corridor, the 18-mile Cattail State Trail meanders through some of Wisconsin’s most scenic forests and farmlands. The trail passes through Turtle Lake as it connects Amery in Polk County with Almena in Barron County. The trailhead at Amery has a parking lot, restrooms and picnic areas. From the end point in Amery, you can continue west on the Stowers Seven Lakes State Trail mentioned above (no motorized vehicles).
