Hay-on-Wye (Welsh: Y Gelli Gandryll), often abbreviated in the community to just "Hay" Y Gelli, is a small market town and community in the historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire) in Powys, Wales. Nestled under the Black Mountains and next to the river Wye. With over twenty bookshops, it is often described as "the town of books", and is both the National Book Town of Wales and the site of the annual Hay Festival and How the light gets in. Home to Hay Festival, it's a great little town packed full of bookshops, independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. We love The Three Tons pub. Also a great well stocked health food shop there too.

Lovely drive over the hills (narrow roads) to small town, famous for second-hand bookshops. Good pubs and cafes.
