Crowned UK best beach 2021. 25 minute drive. Great fish and chips on sea front. Have a go at Surfing with the local surf school. Experience the water powered funicular tramway, built in 1884, it connects the Victorian Town of Saltburn-by-the Sea with the promenade, pier and beach 211 feet below. Operated by water and gravity the skill of the brakeman ensures a smooth passage up and down the steep cliff, and saves you the 173 steps! It is like stepping back in history to a bygone age. The appropriately attired operators are only too willing to explain the fascinating Victorian engineering and make this an experience, rather than just a journey!

Dog friendly all year round - on left after beach hits

Dog friendly: Saltburn beach has a beautifully long stretch of sand, however dogs are restricted in the area between the left side of the pier (looking out to sea) and Hazlegrove (where the sand dunes start) between May 1st and September 30th. This is not an issue though, as there's still lots of space between the pier and Ship Inn as well as beyond the sand dunes; dogs are also welcome all along the promenade.

Beautiful beach to paddle in or surf if that's your thing. Only a quick 15 minute drive from Guisborough.

A beautiful beach stretching for miles! Also a perfect spot to try your hand at a little bit of surfing!
