The Forrest rangers who work at the visitor center know all there is to know about the hiking trails, weather conditions, wildlife, plants & trees , history and any other questions that you may have during your visit To the national park. They are very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. You can also purchase maps and souvenirs. There is a movie that they offer for you to watch that highlights many of the details of Kings Canyon and the giant sequoia trees. They have some very interesting photographs , maps and displays as well. Across from the visitor center is a very large meadow worth the walk through . In Spring, summer, and autumn it’s alive with flowers and greenery and sometimes the local wildlife such as deer raccoons and bear will be seen in the meadow. In the winter, it’s covered with snow and the meadow has a nice flat surface for sledding! If you want to Purchase tickets for a guided tour to Chrystal Cave you can sometimes purchase tickets at the Visitor Center and I suggest purchasing the tickets the day before you actually want to visit the cave in Sequoia. It will be a long day.
