There is a west entrance and east entrance. They are great spots for bird watching and hiking. The east entrance has trails and plant markers for easy plant identification as well as a historic ranch house. It’s. Great stop for birding or picnicking. The west entrance has a few trails throughout the area, as well as a picnic table for picnicking. They also have canoes and kayaks available if you bring your own paddles. You can request paddles from us seasonally, when the water in the middle of the valley is high enough for this peaceful and fun activity!

The Sierra Valley Preserve is managed for a variety of public benefits including wildlife habitat, wetlands and water, sustainable agriculture, cultural and historical preservation, low-impact recreation, and education. In 2003, Feather River Land Trust (FRLT) partnered with The Nature Conservancy and the Sierra Business Council to acquire its first property in Sierra Valley, a 575-acre parcel in the heart of the wetlands owned by rancher Tony Maddalena.
