This is a great activity for everybody - esp if you've got kids, do make sure you bring them out. Internationally renowned African-American artist co-founded the Watts towers in LA and made his work out in the desert long before it was a destination on anybody's map. The works here are fun to explore and walk around on 10 acres of desert floor

This open-air desert museum features an offbeat collection of found folk-art assemblages surprising and though provoking! amazing collection of art. Each piece is fascinating. The backgrounds and the desert setting add a really cool atmosphere as well. The museum is really close to the entrances to Joshua Tree National Park and so it is well worth stopping by on the way to the park. It's free to get in and wander around - The whole family can enjoy!
