San Agustin Church, Manila Overview Located inside the walled city of Intramuros in Metro Manila, San Agustin Church is known to be the oldest church in the Philippines. Boasting of a Baroque style of architecture, the church has lately been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in between 1587 and 1606, the Roman Catholic church also houses the San Agustin Museum and tombs of several historical figures, including conquistadors, statesmen, and artists etc. The massive facade is done up in most beautiful ornate interiors. After bearing seven major earthquakes, the current building is the third to be built on the same spot. In addition to the beautiful architecture, the church also has green lawns at the back that are very popular for weddings and other ceremonies. Sunday mass at the church does not allow visitors. Besides that, the church is a popular stop for most sightseeing tourist tours and is especially popular among history buffs.

San Agustin Church , also known as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Consolacion y Correa or the Immaculate Conception Parish, is a Roman Catholic church under the auspices of the Order of St. Augustine, located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. Completed in 1607, it is the oldest stone church in the country. In 1993, San Agustin Church was one of four Philippine churches constructed during the Spanish colonial period to be designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, under the collective title Baroque Churches of the Philippines. It was named a National Historical Landmark by the Philippine government in 1976.
