Considered one of the most important sightseeing in Bucharest Piata Universitatii takes its name from the University of Bucharest. Located in central historic quarter, this square include The National Theatre, The National Bank, The Bucharest Museum, and The Intercontinental Hotel. Piata Universitatii has a long history that started with the Saint Sava Monastery built in the 16th century along with a Royal School within the premises. The current shape was set out during the mid to late 19th century when the University of Bucharest was built and to showcase the amazing building along with the other beautiful Beaux Arts palaces that were sprouting around the Square. Historically it is also best known as the place of the bloodiest fighting was done during the 1989 revolution and for the 1990’s violent miner riots. (eleventh 381 bus stop)
