From Ruff Ridge this dog friendly hiking and camping area is a 36 minute journey. It is a glaciated landscape interspersed with numerous Lakes and Meadows and encompasses 113,000 acres with 30 miles of backpacking trails. The famous Pacific Crest Trail follows a scenic route on its eastern edge and several other trails criss cross the area. For camping it is not a first timer experience...and is geared more for those looking for a bigger outing.

A glaciated landscape of scenic beauty. Dominated by volcanic ridges and peaks; and granitic ridges interspersed with numerous lakes and meadows. Great hiking trails!!!!

We highly recommend hiking in the Emigrant Wilderness. Our favorite hike is to Powell Lake which is 4.6 miles from the trailhead. Breathtaking scenery and a beautiful small lake to swim in at the halfway point.
