This visitor Center is near the end of Highway 180 Kings Canyon Road, after you have driven through most of the canyon. It is Located just before the waterfalls. There is a lodge nearby the visitor center and next door to the lodge, is a gift shop/ convenience store. I like to buy Chicken & basil pita bread sandwich or snacks, & a coffee or juice drink at the convenience store. Then sit by the Kings River outside on the comfortable lounge chairs and have a rest & refreshment.( the Long, adjustable lounge chairs are comfortable enough to stretch out like laying on a bed.) The sound of the river is awesome music. Cedar grove is the area that I most often see a bear or two wandering alongside the road.. but don’t worry, they are not Grizzley bears! Black & brown bears in this area are used to seeing people. :) Quite safe

Drive Highway 180 to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon for jaw-dropping views, a raging river, a cavern, and much more. Trailheads there lead to Mist Falls, Paradise Valley, and the backcountry.
